Sam and Sahvannah at Arts Award moderation
Two of our Silver participants, Sam Barnett and Sahvannah Amaka discuss their projects with the Arts Award moderator.

Over the past nine months, our Learning & Participation coordinator, James Hill has been working to develop our Arts Award programme and enable a group of our most dedicated young musicians to achieve their Silver Arts Awards.

Throughout the programme, our musicians have benefitted from being involved in a variety of activities, with the highlight for many of them being the opportunity to lead one of our small ensembles in a performance of their own arrangements at the Southbank Centre.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our first 5 Silver Arts Awards are now in the bag, plus another Bronze Arts Award! Massive congratulations to all of our exceptional young musicians who have invested their time and energy into some truly wonderful projects:

Silver Arts Awards participants:
Sam Barnett
Sahvannah Amaka
Adem Hilmi
Kalysha Stapleton
Scarlett Stewart

and Bronze Arts Award participant:
Cara Crosby

Sahvannah Amaka, who has just achieved her Silver Arts Award, had this to say:

“I’m really happy I did my Silver Arts Award. It enabled me to look at myself from a 3rd person perspective, which is a rare and beneficial skill. Because of Arts Award, I’m now more focussed on how I can identify my weaknesses and work to improve them.”

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and are looking forward to celebrating their success!

Sincere thanks to the team at Arts Award and A New Direction who have supported us in developing our Arts Award programme.
