It definitely is the season to be jazzy as we head into the festive season and oh boy, have we got a stunning gig lined up for you with our Tomorrow’s Warriors Extraordinary Showcase! Anyone who came to our Extraordinary Showcase back in February will tell you how fantastic our showcase gigs are. Definitely not to be missed, this is the gig to be at if you want to catch a glimpse of the future stars of UK jazz currently receiving training and development as part of Tomorrow’s Warriors Young Artist Development Programme at Southbank Centre, London.
Expect an abundance of energy, brilliance and extraordinary musical moments from the Tomorrow’s Warriors family of young musicians. We feature our Junior Band, our Youth Ensemble and, to put a smile on the face of the big band fans amongst you, we present the super-gifted Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Orchestra conducted by our very own Binker Golding, recent winner of the MOBO Award for Best Jazz Act (with drummer Moses Boyd), following the release of their debut album Dem Ones (Gearbox Records) – congrats again to both!
Making their Extraordinary Showcase debut are members of String Ting – a pioneering programme for jazz string players devised and being piloted by our artistic director, Gary Crosby OBE to enable even more diverse young musicians to learn and play jazz. We can’t wait to see and hear them all!
So come along on Sunday 20 December, from 6.00pm-8.00pm at Southbank Centre. It’s going to be utterly extraordinary and it’s completely £FREEEEEEE! It’s a no brainer folks, and what a great way to kickstart the festive season!
