Nu Civilisation Orchestra (NCO) has secured a creative home thanks to a new partnership between two of London’s most diverse organisations: leading music education provider and creative producer, Tomorrow’s Warriors and East London’s celebrated arts venue, Rich Mix.

The residency will feature a professional live music programme for London audiences by award-winning NCO artists alongside participatory jazz jams for young people delivered by Tomorrow’s Warriors as part of their ongoing offer for new and emerging artists.

The partnership will launch in Spring and will include a mix of NCO community shows to celebrate diverse festivals and holidays, a quarterly concert series, a schools project and an open rehearsals programme.

Tomorrow’s Warriors and Rich Mix have collaborated on a variety of projects in the past. However, the forging of a more formal relationship facilitates both partners in achieving shared artistic and organisational goals.

Janine Irons, CEO of Tomorrow’s Warriors said; “We are a pioneering organisation, and a home for our Nu Civilisation Orchestra has long been an aspiration, so it is a great privilege for our ensemble to be the first professional orchestra to be afforded this designation at Rich Mix. We now have a very exciting opportunity to expand our artistic programme and extend our reach into East London’s diverse community through this unique relationship.

I’m confident the orchestra, and the people and communities of East London and beyond will all be enriched by our residency and look forward to launching our 2017 programme, where we aim to offer something meaningful in the repertoire for everyone, regardless of age, religion, ethnicity and musical interests.”

Eddie Berg, CEO of Rich Mix said “Rich Mix is defined by the strength, depth and range of its partnerships with other creative organisations and diverse artists from London and beyond. Over the new few years we’ll be placing talent development at the front and centre of what we do, helping to connect the widest range of audiences, networks and support to the incredible range of artists that we work with. That’s why we’re delighted to establish this partnership with the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, one of the most progressive talent development organisations working  in contemporary music today.  Together we’re going to create something special which will help shape and define the future of jazz in the UK”.

Peter Edwards, Musical Director of Nu Civilsation saidI’m tremendously excited for the Nu Civilisation Orchestra to begin its residency at Rich Mix, and am really looking forward to delivering original and inspiring musical experiences that match the cultural vibrancy of East London”.
