Gary Crosby receives honours from London conservatoire

Our founder and artistic director, Gary Crosby OBE made us all so proud on 12 December when he attended a graduation ceremony to have an Honorary Fellowship conferred on him by one of the country’s leading music education institutions – Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. This special honour was given in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music education and the support he continues to give so tirelessly to all the young people who come through our development programme. The Fellowship was presented to Gary by fellow bassist and guest of honour, Chi-Chi Nwanoku OBE. Also receiving honorary fellowships were our dear friends Gillian Moore CBE (Director of Music, Southbank Centre) and Simon Purcell (former Head of Jazz at Trinity Laban, currently International Chair in Improvisation at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama), plus Mark Pemberton (Director of the Association of British Orchestras and Chair of the National Music Council) and Dr Esther Cavett (former Deputy Chair of Trinity Laban, now a Senior Research Fellow in Music at King’s College London and Assistant Director of Water City Music).

“I am deeply honoured to become an Honorary Fellow of one of the finest music institutions in the country that, over several years, has played a key role in educating so many of the leading jazz artists that form the Tomorrow’s Warriors movement. As an Honorary Fellow, I aim to strengthen the bond with Trinity Laban so that, together, we can inspire and support future generations to pursue excellence, reach beyond boundaries and achieve successful, sustainable careers as leaders on the world stage.”
