JazzStrings is a pioneering new programme for string players devised and led by Tomorrow’s Warriors artistic director, Dr Gary Crosby OBE to encourage and enable more string players from diverse backgrounds to engage with jazz.
The programme offers classically trained string players an opportunity to explore the world of jazz, extend their musical knowledge of jazz and improvisation, and gain experience working in a variety of our jazz ensembles, eg Tomorrow’s Warriors StringTing, and in different performance settings.
We are currently piloting this programme with a view to offering a full rolling programme accessible to advanced players aged 16-25. During our pilot phase, however, admission to the programme is by invitation only. If you are an advanced player aged 16-25 and are interested in participating in JazzStrings, please get in touch.
Whilst all Tomorrow’s Warriors programmes are inclusive and open to musicians from all backgrounds, we are passionate about making the music industry more representative of the society in which we live. Therefore we are especially keen to hear from advanced string players from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds, and from those whose economic circumstances may prevent them from accessing high quality development opportunities.
