We were saddened to hear news of the passing of Jamaican saxophonist, Andy Hamilton MBE.
Artistic Director, Gary Crosby OBE said:
“Mr Hamilton was a gentleman, an icon for us all, a survivor, and an important link to our cultural roots in Jamaica and jazz music. A long time ago, he gave me a lesson in mento, a lesson I truly valued that helped me play the music authentically. He was a jazz lover and educator to the end, inspiring future generations, and we miss him already. Swing on, Mr Hamilton, and rest in peace.”
