Nerija at Nolias2-640pxThe talented young women of Tomorrow’s Warriors are celebrating International Women’s Day with performances in two countries – Norway and England – this Saturday, 8 March.

In Norway…

Laura JurdFirst we have our flagship ensemble, Nérija (pictured above) and former Warrior, Laura Jurd (left) performing at Osasalen in Voss, with the Nordic Warriors featuring young musicians from our friend and partner, Voss Jazzskule. Nérija features some of our finest musicians including Sheila Maurice-Grey (trumpet), Rosie Turton (trombone), Cassie Kinoshi (alto sax), Nubya Garcia (tenor sax), Shirley Tetteh (guitar) Inga Eichler (double bass) and Lizy Exell (drums).

Nérija will also play their own set at Tre Brør Cafe in Voss at 2.00pm on Sunday 9 March before racing to the airport to catch the flight home.

And in London…

We also have members of the Tomorrow’s Warriors Female Collective performing at 7.30pm at Southbank Centre, London. Camilla George (alto sax), Richie Seivwright (trombone), Sarah Tandy (piano), Charlie Pyne (double bass) and Momoko Gill (drums) will be performing as part of the WOW orchestra in the Mirth Control concert, an electrifying night of comedy and music inspired by great women hosted by Sandi Toksvig. The concert also features performances from Sharon D. Clarke, Jeremy HardySue Perkins, and the wonderful Southbank Centre Voicelab.
