The star of Nérija is most definitely in the ascendant this summer! After making a pile of new friends at Latitude, Brainchild and the Love Supreme Festivals, they hit the Manchester Jazz Festival as part of a Jazz On 3/BBC Introducing showcase presented by Kevin Le Gendre.
Even with two deps – Richie Seivright (trombone) depping for Rosie Turton and Rio Kai (double bass) who stepped in for Inga Eichler – the band blew everyone away with a stunning set featuring some of their fabulous original material.
So we urge you to tune in to BBC Radio Jazz On 3 on Monday 10 August at 23:00h (or afterwards on the BBC iPlayer) to hear Nérija’s BBC Introducing set in Manchester and find out exactly why there is growing excitement about these outstanding young jazz women.
