Last week Tomorrow’s Warriors founders Gary Crosby OBE and Janine Irons MBE were on SOAS Radio with DJ Ritu celebrating the 300th edition of A World in London.
In this video clip we hear about their early roots in music, and their routes via legendary bands like The Jazz Warriors & Jazz Jamaica, eventually rejuvenating the British Jazz scene through education, passion, and soul. They also play tracks by Samaïa, Romano Drom, Mory Kante, and Celso Fonseca.
As Janine explained ‘It’s about identifying potential leaders and people who will have impact beyond us’, and ‘levelling the playing field’ in terms of diversity. Today’s Warriors and alumni of the scheme are sending revolutionary ripples around the world placing British Jazz firmly on the international stage.
