We are very excited about this year’s London Jazz Festival season with so many of Tomorrow’s Warriors groups showcasing their incredible creativity and talent with their own headline gigs. Join us to see and hear some fantastic sets from these talented musicians – many of the autumn gigs are free to attend so there’s no excuse not to book in advance and also to buy tickets for the others!

We’ve got Nérija’s fresh sound and Ezra Collective’s Suave Jungle Jazz at the Front Room at QEH and Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Orchestra playing at Ray’s Jazz at Foyles. To whet your appetite further, you must book tickets for what has got to be the jewel in the crown for November: Gary Crosby and friends have planned a celebratory concert for Coleridge Goode, on the occasion of the legendary double bass player’s 100th year. You must not miss this once in a lifetime gig, so see you at the Purcell Room on Friday 21st November for this outstanding evening. Let’s also sing the praises of Tomorrow’s Warrior’s Female Collective, Troy who are taking part in the Music for Youth Schools Prom next week and to introduce you to Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Ensemble formed to showcase some of the most committed and talented members and led by Binker Golding.

TROY: Tomorrow’s Warrior’s Female Collective | Tuesday 11 November | 7pm
Music for Youth Schools Prom
Among the 3,000 musicians who take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall over three nights of eclectic, electrifying music at the Schools Prom (10-12 November) will be our award-winning female band, Troy.  Spotlighting the stars of tomorrow, these concerts provide a mix of classical, folk, indie and urban music, a massed ensemble of 400-600 people each evening, and an explosive finish in three concerts that have been carefully curated to create three unique nights of themed music: Metamorphosis, Freedom and Words.

Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Orchestra | London Jazz Festival | Monday 17 November | 6.30pm  

Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Orchestra (TWYO) is the flagship ensemble of the acclaimed Youth Artist Development Programme. Led by two of our inspirational faculty of music leaders, James McKay and saxophonist Nathaniel Facey, this is your opportunity to hear some of the finest young jazz musicians in London tackling classic Basie Repertoire, alongside original chart penned by member band member Nathaniel Cross.

Nérija | London Jazz Festival | Thursday 20 November | 5.30pm
Nerija-BW-640pxIntroducing an evening that celebrates 100 years of British composition Nérija – a septet of young women whose original compositions embody their fresh distinctive sound. Emerging from a Tomorrow’s Warriors initiative to hold sessions for young women in jazz, specifically with the aim of fostering a comfortable, ungendered space for their creative development.

From Django Reinhardt to Joe Harriott, from Leslie ‘Jiver’ Hutchinson to Michael Garrick – and taking in The Goon Show on the way, Coleridge Goode occupies a special place in jazz history. Never bound by style or genre, he made a crucial contribution to Joe Harriott’s free jazz experiments, and continues to be a source of inspiration to successive generations. Fellow bassist Gary Crosby hosts the celebration of a much-loved bastion of the British jazz scene.

Ezra Collective  | Friday 21 November | London Jazz Festival | 5.30pm
Ezra Collective formed through Tomorrow’s Warrior’s Young Artist Development Programme, this young band apply their knowledge of jazz to a combination of musical genres including Afro-beat, reggae and hip-hop: newly named Suave Jungle Jazz. Hear Ezra perform fresh original material alongside covers of music from around the UK. Part of the Friday Tonic with Mastercard series.

Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Ensemble
We are delighted to announce that we’ve created a new ensemble with gigs in the late autumn 2014 at Cafe Verdi and at Ray’s Jazz.
This new group has been set up to showcase some of the most committed and talented members who are currently part of the Young Artist Development Programme. Working with music leader Binker Golding, the group have built up a set of classic repertoire with fresh arrangements including music by John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, which they are presenting at these two special concerts.

As Turner Sims’ Associate Artists we are also renowned as the breeding ground for some of the leading names in British jazz. Come and hear just some of the long list celebrated names who have come together for an exclusive double bill. Legendary bass player Gary Crosby’s Quartet brings together 2014 MOBO Best Jazz Act nominee, Peter Edwards (piano), Young Jazz Musician of Year, Moses Boyd (drums) and renowned saxophonist Denys Baptiste to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Coltrane’s A Love Supreme.  With his trio, Peter Edwards showcases music from his latest album, Safe and Sound.
