It’s that time of year when we get to celebrate the immense achievements of our young musicians, and what better way to do this than to host an extraordinary showcase in one of the capital’s most prestigious venues: Southbank Centre – home to the famed Tomorrow’s Warriors Young Artist Development Programme.
And this year we have an incredible performance schedule with six, yes six bands performing between 12 noon-6.15pm on Sunday 18 December. Such a brilliant way to kickstart the festive season!
We’ll be taking over The Clore Ballroom with our Junior Band, Youth Ensemble and House Band featuring musicians. Also appearing will be Tomorrow’s Warriors StringTing, the ensemble formed out of our innovative JazzStrings programme, a new initiative by Artistic Director, Gary Crosby OBE.
The day also features an open workshop and jam session with Gary, with opportunities for everyone to get involved, whether you play an instrument or not!
Concluding the day is a performance of our flagship ensemble, Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Orchestra (TWYO), led by our alumnus, Binker Golding – one half of MOBO-award winners Binker & Moses – performing both new repertoire by Binker as well as some well-known jazz classics for a show that’s sure to swing like there’s no tomorrow!
