This year we are partnering with 18 inner London schools to deliver a series of targeted outreach projects, and we are already seeing the impact of how this work can make radical shifts in young people’s lives.
Through the Spring term our Learning, Outreach and Engagement Team led our LDN Calling project, generously supported by the Toby Hayward-Seers Memorial Fund, and our Beyond the Sound Barrier initiative to five schools, delivering the highest-quality jazz education workshops and inspiring young people just starting out, turning their passions into fulfilling musical journeys, and providing accessible pathways to our Young Artist Development Programme.

Beyond the Sound Barrier works specifically with female students and is made possible by the kind donations to our Big Give Women and Girls match funding campaign. Led by our female Music Leaders, these sessions build a safe creative environment for young musicians to not only explore jazz, but also to meet role models who help them ‘see what they can be’.
Tricia Drummond, Head of Music at Oasis Academy Southbank, explains the impact Beyond the Sound Barrier, and TW Music Leaders, CHERISE and Ky Osborne, made in her school:
“The Tomorrow’s Warriors schools’ outreach sessions break the fourth wall right through to the music industry and the world of work.
Three quarters of these girls would never normally have put themselves forward for a project like this. For all of them, the sessions were amazing, for a handful they have been able to name their potential, their ownership and confidence, and for a few it’s been a completely transformative experience.
Being part of the outreach programme helped one pupil access a place on Tomorrow’s Warriors’ Young Artist Development Programme that’s not just life‑changing, but an absolute a dream. Her invitation to join the Warriors 2026 cohort and then be taught by the very same Music Leader who welcomed her on that first day of Beyond the Sound Barrier, gave her the confidence to take the leap. I went along with her to help ease that transition, and we’re excited to see what happens next – the sky’s the limit!”
This is just one example of the impact that Tomorrow’s Warriors outreach work continues to have. Every young musician that we have witnessed flourish, credits the free access they were given with their success.
“For me, being part of the TW artist development programme and being mentored by so many great musicians, changed my life, and my career. To now be supporting young people to grow, to open up in confidence, and believe in their own potential to take their music further – that is beyond special.

And that is what Warriors has always been about, continuing the lineage, supporting the next generation – each one teach one!”
