Tomorrow’s Warriors is delighted to announce the appointment of Marcia Willis Stewart KC (Hon) as a Trustee, further strengthening the organisation’s governance and deepening its commitment to supporting equity, justice and opportunity within the music and creative industries.
Marcia Willis Stewart has been at the forefront of public law over the last decade, fighting for justice and accountability on many high-profile inquests, inquiries and legal cases. These include representing the Hillsborough families, the Grenfell bereaved survivors and residents, the family of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, the family of Dawn Sturgess and many other miscarriages of justice that have earned her acclaim and recognition in the legal profession.
In recognition of her exceptional contribution to social justice, Marcia Willis Stewart was appointed an Honorary Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in 2017, alongside receiving multiple accolades for her outstanding advocacy and contributions to legal reform.
As our legal specialist Trustee, Marcia Willis Stewart will support Tomorrow’s Warriors in ensuring strong governance, ethical practice and accountability as the organisation continues to grow in its 35th anniversary year. This includes a strengthened focus on women in leadership and a deep commitment to equity of opportunity for future generations of talent – particularly Black and female musicians and those from underrepresented communities.
“I am honoured to join Tomorrow’s Warriors as a Trustee. The organisation’s work in creating access, opportunity and lasting change within the music industry is both vital and inspiring. I look forward to supporting its continued impact and growth.”

Her exceptional legal expertise, combined with her deep commitment to justice and equality, will be invaluable as we continue to develop and expand our work. She brings not only professional excellence but also a shared passion for empowering the next generation.”
Tove Okunniwa MBE, Chair of the Board of Trustees, added: “Marcia’s appointment marks an important moment in our continued evolution as an organisation committed to equity, excellence and opportunity. Her formidable legal expertise and lifelong dedication to justice strengthen not only our governance, but our mission to ensure that young musicians, regardless of background, can thrive through music. I am delighted to welcome Marcia to the Board as we celebrate 35 years of shaping UK jazz and empowering the next generation.”
This appointment comes in a landmark year for Tomorrow’s Warriors, as it marks its 35th anniversary – celebrating a legacy of transforming lives through music while building a more inclusive and equitable future for UK jazz and beyond. Recent milestones – including the appointment of 12 artist alumni, cultural leaders and business figures as inaugural Patrons – reflect its belief that when young people are given the space, training and opportunities to express themselves, entire communities flourish.
As a Black-founded and Black-led organisation, Tomorrow’s Warriors continues to expand its vision in this next chapter of growth, with the appointment of Marcia Willis Stewart strengthening its leadership and governance for the future.
