We’re rounding off the epic that has been The Jazz Ticket 2017 marking the centenary year of the birth of six Giants Of Jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzie Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Mongo Santamaria, Tadd Dameron, and Buddy Rich.

To celebrate, on Sunday 29 April we’re bringing together for The Jazz Ticket National Finale around 200 of the 600 young musicians who took part in the programme across London, Manchester, Humberside, Southampton, Luton, Brighton and Leicestershire.  Building on their learning from The Jazz Ticket workshops in 2017, budding young jazz icons will participate in master classes throughout the day, and showcase all they’ve learned along the way in a free public performance in the afternoon. Come support these young musicians at 4pm in the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer!

And there’s more…

The Jazz Ticket

We end the day with some musical fireworks when the Nu Civilisation Orchestra led by Peter Edwards performs live in concert combining archive film portraits with big band classics by our chosen giants of jazz. It’s going to be a thrilling end to their national tour, and we can’t wait for the fiery battle of the saxes when NCO member Binker Golding and special guest Soweto Kinch lock horns! Bring it on!

Also on the orchestra’s pad is the fantastic new work by Peter Edwards – A Journey with the Giants of Jazz – commissioned by Turner Sims in partnership with Tomorrow’s Warriors for the PRS New Music Biennial 2017.
